A nation under threat and a dynasty facing collapse under a much hated, heretic king. Tracing the Amarna Egyptian royal family, from Akhenaten through to Tutankhamun and the final Pharaoh Horemheb, a picture emerges of a dynasty caught up in a religious controversy and the unfolding of an unstoppable drama. This book explores the mysterious deaths of this dynasty’s pharaohs and the flight of one of its last queens, an older sister of the ill-fated Tutankhamun. Why did she flee Egypt and how? Why did she go to Spain and then Scotland? How did she come to meet her death in the West of Ireland?

Endorsements...

“Proof that ancient Egyptians came to Britain would change human history. Great new evidence is now coming to light that makes this theory possible. Read this extraordinary new book and find out for yourself. A valuable new addition to the ancient mysteries bookshelf.”
ANDREW COLLINS, author of “Author of Tutankhamun: The Exodus Conspiracy” and Sobekneferu: The First Female Pharaoh: Sobekneferu, Goddess of the Seven Stars”

“A modern exploration inspired by the musings of 18th century antiquarians and early Irish ecclesiastical scribes, the book provides more convincing details about the mythical Egyptian princess Scota than one would have thought possible. An interesting read.”
ELLEN EVERT HOPMAN, author of “Celtic Druidry – Rituals, Techniques and Magical Practices”, “A Legacy of Druids – Conversations with Druid leaders of Britain, the USA and Canada, Past and Present”, and of other volumes

“Luke Eastwood’s latest book is an intellectually honest, rigorous, and erudite comparative analysis of the Scotia’s story. Eastwood has brought together a variety of sources which makes for a compelling, enlightening, and highly recommended read.”
DR RACHEL SCOAZEC (PhD Irish Studies), Manager of Kilderry Art, Nature and Tradition Centre, Kerry

“There is nothing more wonderful than to witness the threads of research weave together a picture of little known or obscure historical figures. One such obscure figure is Scotia. Eastwood leads the reader to Egypt, Spain, Scotland and Ireland through his thorough research in an attempt to shine a spotlight on Scotia. Despite the paucity of verifiable historical fact, the reader is presented with in-depth historical contexts that support the merging image and character of Scotia.”
PAULINE BREEN, author of “This is Brigid-Goddess & Saint”, “Maman Brigitte’ and “Brigantia”

“The true history of humanity has long been hidden from us. Thanks to the resilient work of inspired researchers and scholars, some important pieces of human history are being brought back to the surface, bringing clarity and understanding about our origins and the genetic links between different cultures on this planet. The links that can be traced back are sometimes quite remarkable. Did the ancient Egyptians make it to Scotland? And how does Tutankhamun fit in? Luke Eastwood lifts the veil on this fascinating but forgotten chapter of history. A highly recommended read.”
ELENA DANAAN, author of “The Seeders”

"The story of Scotia is a tantalizing one, with scholars arguing for and against the historical existence of any such person, and folklorists celebrating her place in Irish and Scottish mythology. “Scotia, The Lost Sister of Tutankhamun” is a fascinating exploration of the same, reconstructing one possible narrative of Meritaten, daughter of Akhenaten, fleeing a turbulent Egypt. Eastwood’s story brings us from Egypt to Scotland to a grave in the south west of Ireland, through the mythology and history of several cultures. The history of the period in Egypt, with its politics and dynastic changes is absorbing. Did Meritaten leave her royal status and power, become the namesake of Scotland and find her way into the Leabhar Gabhala Eireann? The reader should delve in and decide for themselves. A story that if true, provides a link from one great ancient culture to another and deserves to be told in full."

Reviews...

"If you love reading about ancient history, (and I don’t mean “the Romans invaded England in the 4th century and decided to stay awhile” kind of ancient but the “this person is thought to have lived in 1356 BCE” kind of ancient) then this is the book for you. Eastwood’s exploration of the royal line of Ancient Egypt is nothing short of heroic and he leaves no stone unturned in his literary archeologist efforts to research and convey the potential migration of Egyptians to Ireland and Scotland...

In this book, one chapter builds on the next, so do not skip ahead. Information from the chapter you skip is necessary for following the (proposed) timeline of Meritaten’s journey from Egypt to Spain to Scotland to Ireland. Since, as this book relates, 70% of British, Irish, and Spanish men and 50% of all Western European men are related to Tutankhamun, we know that Haplogroup R-M269 propagated there somehow. What started around the Black Sea 9500 years ago might well have pass through exactly the route and means the author proposes. My suggestion is to read the book and keep your mind open to the possibilities."

5 out of 5. This was an interesting peek into history, with a well-researched theory that’s presented in an easy-to-read format. I was a little worried going in that this would be too academic for a lay reader and go over my head, but it was an interesting read and I felt like I could understand it all just fine. Admittedly, the charts and maps included helped a lot in that respect. I felt like I was on an epic journey, watching history unfold before my eyes the deeper I got into this book. Although this is non-fiction, Eastwood does an excellent job of making this much more interesting in a way I wish the history books I read in college were! The extensive research that went into this is clear, even before you take a look at the bibliography (which is perfect for those who want to do further research on their own). Whether you’re a general ancient history buff, or more interested in Scotland/Celtic history or Egyptian history, you absolutely need to read this!

"I really enjoyed Luke Eastwood's book. For me it was a real page-turner. I love how Luke offers serious academic and scientific approach and research, but it is written in a way that is available to all and he makes it fascinating and it is not at all heavy and pedantic with extensive footnotes, like academic work often is (I remember having to write that way myself in the past and hated it). It's serious research presented in a super interesting and fascinating way. This is how academic work should always be presented in my view. I highly recommend this fantastic and fascinating book. "

"I set off into this brand new book with an open mind, as I implore you all to do also, as what you will quickly find is a dutifully sculpted recounting of ancient history along with an expertly cultivated exploration of the royal line of Ancient Egypt (itself inclusive of a rather lovingly exhaustive, and thusly poignant reveal of a potential migration of Egyptians to Ireland and Scotland). The historical claims have long since painted the picture that Scotia (Scota) was the daughter of a Pharaoh (but not specifically Tutankhamun), married a Babylonian named Niul, and their son, Goídel Glas, founded the Gaelic people…
Of course, this narrative is a later attempt to connect the Gaels to ancient Egypt and to explain the origin of the name Scoti, but what Eastwood does here is bring forth a veritable library of prose about the royal lines of Ancient Egypt and their migration; which along its informative way opens our eyes and minds to the theory that Scotia, ancestor of the Gaels, could actually be Meritaten, one of two older sisters (along with Meketatenan) and therein Egyptian princesses and later, herself a Queen….
So what Eastwood astutely does is provide new, educated and profoundly cultivated evidence that they did indeed travel into Europe, and as each chapter brilliantly builds on the prior, we follow along and learn that what started around the Black Sea 9500 years ago might well have passed through the route suggested here. Complete with in-depth historical pinpoints, Scotia: Lost Sister of Tutankhamun is a quite stunning new addition to the ancient mysteries that currently adorn our library and book store shelves."
